Animal Health

If animal performance is poor when pasture allowances are adequate, diseases are absent, then mineral deficiency can be suspected. Southland is well known to have low selenium and cobalt levels crucial for optimal growth. With selenium, there cam be a risk of overdosing which is reduced when these minerals are topdressed over the whole farm, increasing available mineral levels for many months to come. It is usually deficiencies seen in stock that lead to the mineral prescription for the plane.

New technologies being developed will allow targeting of the right amounts of nutrients and lime to optimize potential productivity of different land management units within farm, in order to maximize the benefit of investment in soil fertility management on hill country farms.
Airspread South has been invested in accurate GPS precision guidance and online mapping systems in order to offer prescription mapping for every customer. This allows us to identify application areas, exclusion and buffer zones to maximize productivity and minimise environmental impact.
